Feast your eyes on some concept development for Rock Mash, an upcoming interactive experiment where a tiny rock is let loose on the streets of a big city. Here’s one of the earlier splash screens.

I’ve been wanting to create a Fallout 3 game for a very long time. Here are some assets I made over the weekend.

Welcome to The Devil’s Garage, the smelting pot for concepts, designs and animations by Ajay Karat.

As much as I really didn’t like Wordpress, I never thought I could pull off this whole website in under two week without the help of the Interbutt, WP, everyone’s philanthropic contributions, plugins and themes.

Most recent updates: Other than the fact that a good portion of the site has been revamped, do check in for new content over the next few weeks. I also understand that a lot of the earlier posts have broken links and I’m working on correcting all that.

Here are some initial concepts I was leaning towards when redesigning this site.

The Devil's Garage website layout concept

The biggest challenge while working on the layouts was to create an intuitive navigation that was easy to understand and always had scope for expansion.

It was this layout design (below) that I felt best suited the new design. I dropped the Print and Illustration links and combined the content under a Design category.

Just before hitting the bed every night, I religiously log on to Newgrounds.com one last time to see all the funnyKevin Bacon illustration art/games that made it to the homepage. Tonight is KEVIN BACON’s DAY! I had to crank out a piece of art before the night was done, so after grabbing a coffee and some Wacom pens this was the first piece I came up with.
Yup, it sucked. It didn’t matter that the illustration came out looking nothing like Kevin Bacon, but I had used a bad reference image. So with a lil bit of brainstorming and combing though Google Images, I finally found a better reference and decided to theme it Futurama’s “Head in a Jar.” So here is the process from which his final head evolved.

Tetanus Shorts Grilled Cheese storyboard

My friend and I had been working on some scripts for Tetanus Shorts around 8 months back. We had ambitious plans of making this a series that may have a run time of approximately 4-5 minutes. Upon revisiting the project this week, I churned out this storyboard for a short where the two main characters grab a bite.

This is one of the finished pieces I had done for a client sometime back. They preferred another one, so this goes right into the Garage Black Book.

Bacon and Games character design

Bacon and eggs are the best things to have happened to breakfast (and lunch and dinner. Thanks, 24 hour breakfast).
Well, the best things don’t always happen to games and thats why Sean James Games Chains McKenzie is gathering his thoughts about this subject matter here. I was commissioned to work on the mascots “Bacon” and “Games.” Here are some of the preliminary sketches and color treatment for “Games.”
